The main tower pedestals of Lugu Lake Bridge in China have both been cast.
Lugu Lake Bridge is part of the Xixiang Expressway and it is located in Changbai, Sichuan. The double-tower single-span steel truss suspension bridge over the Woluo River has a main span of 1,680m. The construction site is at 2,300 to 2,600m above sea level and is exposed to high winds, seismic activity and extremes of temperature.
The foundations used 18,759 cubic metres of concrete, poured in four layers. The team developed a temperature control system that transmitted data wirelessly to automatically manage the flow of cooling water pipes, saving labour and construction costs.
The Lugu Lake Bridge is a project by the Shudao Group, which consists of the Shudao Expressway Group as the main investor; designer Provincial Highway Design Institute, and the Sichuan Road and Bridge Group Bridge Company, which is responsible for construction.
