Engineers in north-east England have installed a 50t footbridge to connect a Victorian railway station building with a new concourse.

The installation of the footbridge is part of a major upgrade at Darlington Station. The bridge arrived on Friday in two parts, one 31m and one 16m. The installation used a purpose-built 750t crane, which engineers used to slide the bridge into a hole cut in the roof of the Victorian station. It will provide step-free access between the new and old part of the transport hub.
