Road Infrastructure Agency of Bulgaria reports that it has applied anti-corrosion protection to the steel parts of the bridge over the Danube at Ruse. It adds that work on a new drainage system is ongoing, but that it has completed the installation of cornice panels.

The Friendship Bridge between Bulgaria and Romania is undergoing planned repairs under the supervision of Danube Bridge-PII-Strol. The works include complete replacement of the bridge’s asphalt layers, panels and waterproofing, and renewal of its restraint systems and markings.

Road Infrastructure Agency of Bulgaria started the repair programme on the 70-year-old bridge earlier this summer (link opens in new tab). Work will carry on until summer 2026. RIA says that the bridge will not be closed to traffic during the work.
